This is the blender for those who want a multi-purpose mixing machine.
This is a fantastic blender! I have put off buying a blender for years because the last one I had (inherited from my mother-in-law) never worked very well. Recently, I was reading a copy of Cooking Pleasures magazine and read their review of 5 blenders they tested. Of the 5 blenders, they gave the Best Buy rating to the Braun MX2050. Not only did they like how it pureed, chopped ice, and blended soups, but the price of the MX2050 beat the competitors by a long shot. The other top-rated blenders in the test all cost at least $40-100 more than the Braun.
After reading that, I went online and read equally glowing reviews by Consumer Reports and some other testing organizations. So I ordered my Braun MX2050 blender and have been reveling in Smoothie bliss ever since. The design is attractive, the glass jar is nicely shaped to force all foods down into the blade, and the machine has a "clean" setting that makes clean-ups a breeze. It can also be taken apart for easy cleaning in the dishwasher.
