A big disappointment!

Attractive unit and normally a trusted brand.

A dud! Died a quick death!
Based on a recomendation in a Cook's Illustrated magazine, I purchased this blender. I only used it a dozen times or so and for fairly easy processing. Then, one day, it would not run and hasn't worked since.
I called Braun and they were not helpful, suggesting I get a new base for $4o! That was almost the entire price of the whole unit!
It is exactly 14 months old! My last blender worked for 8 years!
This was a major disappointment as I have purchased Braun products for years with satisfaction.
I am fed up and am going to buy another brand of blender.
