Stop debating and buy one!

Pros Inexpensive and effective
Cons Don't pull it out while running in hot liquids!
Recommended it? Yes
I just got a stick blender for my birthday. Never had one before, never used one before but it's a cooking toy so it's obvious that I needed one. What a cool toy! I was a bit skeptical as to what it could do, but my aunt and uncle have one and love theirs and my grandmother caught the idea for a gift.

I?ve been experimenting with more and more interesting foods, and have seen these blenders on lots of cooking shows. I got an idea for a cheese soup w/ chicken stock and beer broth and scallions, portabella mushrooms, and chunks of salmon. I make it up in a big cast iron put and at various times had to blend in the ingredients. This little device worked quite well!

It won?t handle large chunks, but you shouldn?t be putting large chunks into anything you would be blending like this. It did easily handle about two gallons of liquid and fine blend in celery, mushrooms, shredded cheddar, and onions. Soup came out perfectly smooth.

If you?re looking for a great gift for someone that cooks, or you want a neat new toy for yourself this is a great choice. My mother is wondering what my appliance graveyard will look like in a few years with the number of gadgets I?m buying, but I doubt this device will get there!

I will say ? LET GO OF THE BUTTON BEFORE YOU PULL IT UP! Hot soup all over you really does feel as lousy as it sounds, not to mention the mess.
