This is a top of the line toaster that will toast anything you give it! Perfection!!
I can't begin to start the story of how many toasters we have been through since my bridal shower back in 1993. Here, I thought the one I registered for and got would still be in my home, like in the days of my mom's toasters. Well, 1 husband, 2 kids, 3 apartments, 1 house and about a dozen toasters later, I can chalk that up to wishful thinking! Much like everything else, I have had my run of toaster-hunting. Is it worth it? You bet!
When you crave homemade bread with melting peanut butter, a bagel in the morning, or an english muffin to snack on, then this is an enticing appliance to have handy! This stainless steel brushed toaster by Braun is slightly odd in that instead of having two slicers next to each other, there is one long slit with two compartments to give a slim look. It is very sleek, and has an attachment to warm bread (buns or muffins) that is simple to take on or off. We do not use it, as I microwave muffins if I want them warm. The slots are extra wide, so your bread, like Texas Toast, or homemade cut slices do not rip or tear. You can adjust the width to fit whatever you slide in there. This is a grown-up toaster, and nothing like I have ever seen!
In addition to that, it has an advanced control button that allows you to barely toast or to nearly burn, and allows you to reheat without it overheating. It is cool to the touch, so you don't have to worry about burning your hand if you touch it, or having anything near it get too warm. Unlike other toasters we have had, this does not smoke, because it has an auto-stop in case anything breaks off. If you have ever had anything break off in a toaster, you know what I mean. Our last toaster, it stopped popping up by itself, and the only way it would pop up is if I lowered the heat range. It would burn everything, or leave your stuff cold. Of course, that was a cheap $10 toaster, so I will always gladly pay the extra amount for safety and loss of stress! The crumb tray is removable, making cleaning easy. It is so thin compared to other toasters, that it is easy to store, and when out, takes up very little room on the countertop. It really compliments all of the stainless steel in my kitchen. It also stores the cord when not in use to limit the look of wires everywhere!
How does it taste? Awesome! The cooking is completely even, and it never has that electrical taste some toasters give. I love my toast practically black, while my husband likes his toast to taste like bread, and we never have a problem with the settings getting back to where we want them. I love this toaster, and have used it at least every other day since we bought it!! The extra features alone are worth the price difference!
