We originally purchased a Braun kettle because of previous good experience with the brand. At that time, we bought the same kettle as this except that it had a plastic body. $79 or $89.
After about two (2) years, the pin in the base that makes contact with the kettle, came loose and the circuit became tentative. The local repair shop for these stated that it was "not worth repairing".
We decided that "bad luck" was the culprit and we got another Braun with a stainless steel body. $110!
Two years later we have encountered the same issue.
Yesterday I bought a $40 Black and Decker...
