The Bottom Line:
For the two years I've had this product, it worked great and coffee was pretty good. I just wish products last longer. There are better options out there, though.
I bought this coffee maker about two years ago. I wouldn't normally spend 90 bucks on a coffee maker, but since I was given a gift card... I thought I'd give it a try.
At first, I loved it. I immediately could tell a difference between this unit and one of those free ones you get for buying a bunch of coffee online. Night and day. It's fairly easy to clean and operate. The styling is also great.
We had one broken carafe after about a month... Can't they make that a bit more durable without going stainless steel? The spout is also not the greatest. If you're not careful with your pouring, it could spill. I've had worse carafes, however.
Recently, I've noticed a burned-plastic type of smell in my apartment. I thought it was from something outside, but after a day... the smell was still there. My girlfriend and I couldn't figure out what it was since there were no burn marks that we could see. We started unplugging appliances one by one and found that the smell was coming from the bottom of the coffee maker.
We are now doing a search for a new coffee maker since this smell is not a pleasant smell and we don't want a fire to break out. A coffee maker should last as long as the style. Two years is not that long.
I just received a Braun Tassimo and that tastes phenomenal. Expensive T-discs and won't fill my big mugs without using two discs... but that's another story. Hopefully, this will last longer.
