If you want an amazing shave with no mess, the Activator 8595 does the trick. The hygienic Clean&Renew system and the advanced foil make this razor a pleasure to use.
My last electric razor purchase had been about 6 years ago when I had bought a top of the line Norelco with the lift and cut system. I had such a terrible experience with that electric razor I swore I would never leave the Gillette Mach 3 again! However, after all of those years of spending a fortune on Mach 3 blades I wondered what was going on in the electric world.
The 8595 is truly an amazing advancement from the electric shavers of 5 years ago. My expectations were very high when purchasing the razor and I enjoyed the piece of mind of the 30 day money back guarantee. After a couple weeks of use I found I really enjoyed the shaving experience the Activator provided. It provided a near Mach 3 closeness sans the messy shaving gel. The razor does an excellent job with the majority of your face but I found that there were still a couple of tough areas around my neck that really required attention and time with the shaver. If you take a little extra time in those tough areas and use the shavers second setting it does a wonderful job.
Perhaps one of my favorite parts of the shaver is the cleaning system. Cleaning up after shaving has always been a messy feat for me and this system couldn't be easier. I never make a mess with loose hairs and shaving gel anymore. All of the hairs left inside the cutting head are cleaned out and left in the cleaning cartridge. The cleaning system does a thorough job and always leaves the razor smelling lemon fresh. The only downside to the cleaning is the cost which when used daily will total about $5 per month. This seems like a small price to pay for always having a perfectly cleaned, pleasantly smelling, hygienic razor. My face has never been happier.
Being a very big tech addict I was attracted to the LCD display that the 8595 offered. If I wasn't such a big gear head and didn't always want the best, the 8585 would've sufficed considering it is the same exact razor but instead of the display has LEDs to warn you of battery life and cleaning along with a different colored shell. I love the details from the LCD screen and am happy that I spent the extra money to always been in the know of the exact status of the shaver.
Once you get over the high price tag, the Activator is an outstanding shaver for those that desire the best of electric shaving. If you are looking for a convenient and hygienic way to shave, look no further and enjoy the comfort of trying it out with 30 days to decide if it is right for you. I would recommend even the most die-hard Mach 3 user to give it a try for a couple weeks and see if it doesn't change the way they look at electric shavers.
