Gotta have my coffee

The Bottom Line:
Buy it based on price, expecting just a basic machine. Coffee is brewed quickly and hot enough.
This simple machine, with no frills like a clock or timer or auto shutoff, works just fine.
It open with a lid on the back of the top, which flips up and forward. You the have access to the water tank. Markings in the tank are clear and easy to see. It holds water for 10 cups. It is fairly easy to pour into, and if you miss the water doesn't run down the front and onto the hot plate or switch.
The filter basket (#4 size filters) swings out from the front, and lifts up and off for cleaning.
The carafe is particularly well designed. The lid snaps off and on easily, and the pouring spout is actually a separate piece that snaps in or out. The spout is designed to keep the evaporation to a minimum, while being able to swing up and out of the way when pouring. A nice idea, that works well. I always decant into a thermal carafe to keep the coffee fresher by the way. Even 30 minutes on the warmer plate will 'spoil' a pot of coffee for me.
The filter basket has a drip stop feature, which quickly engages if you remove the pot, and prevents brewed coffee still in the basket from pouring onto the hot plate.
The brewed coffee is hot enough to extract full flavor from the ground beans. Not the hottest I've ever seen, but very good.
I drink a lot of coffee, and try to keep my latest machine clean by using a vinegar rinse once in a while. This particular machine still works well after about a year. If I notice it has slowed down I pour about half a carafe of white vinegar, filled to the top with water, into the machine and let it brew. I then do the same with clear water, and it's good to go.
This is one of a number of equally good machines, and one I recommend.
