This black donut, sandbag Ashtray...is it for holding your GPS still, You bet.

Pros Rock steady mount. Stays put amazingly. Will fit many different GPS models.
Cons A bit big, and looks like a beanbag Ashtray, or flying saucer.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  Mounting a GPS  easy, safe with the Nav-Mat. If your state will not allow windshield mounting, or have location, or fitment issues, this mount is for you.
I went to see my brother today and wanted to show him my new Garmin 260 (Review coming soon), but the mount that is stock for the windshield is a bust for mounting anywhere else.  It is illegal in California, and Minnesota to mount your GPS on your windshield so I had to stop at Office Depot on the way to pickup a dashboard mount.

Hey what is that black dougnut, or black flying saucer doing on the GPS accessory rack?  I had seen the Garmin model, and was not convinced there is no way that was going to work. Too light in weight.

I lifted off the hook this Nav-Mat, and was instantly impressed.  This thing weighs a lot.  The center portion is where one attaches the Windshield mount that came standard with your GPS unit.  The center round section is a slick plastic affair so the suction cup windshield mount sticks to it like glue, or a powerful magnet.

The car that this GPS with its black bean bag looking Ashtray with a GPS in the middle is a 2006 Subaru Legacy GT. Mildly modified with suspension fixes and such to make it handle better than the factory could ever envision for this car.

To say the ride is firm is an understatement.  With Megan Racing Coil overs, and new end links front and rear, fatter sway bars front and rear, this car sticks and eliminates the understeer issue that comes with every Subaru Legacy from the factory.

Anything that is not battened down is going to sailing across the cabin.
Finding a place on my dashboard was easy.  My dashboard has a countinuous curving theme to it making just about anything hard to stay put. Also, protectant is applied to the dashboard often. So a bit slippery, and curvy, and aggressive driving, does this flying saucer of a mount, well, go flying off my dashboard?

Absolutely not is the answer. Taking cloverleafs and at a "spirited" pace, and quick transistions would not budge this mount 1mm in any direction.  This mount is absolutely amazing not just in staying put, it also makes the GPS easy to read because the bean bag construction dampens and isolates the GPS well from my firm ride.

I bought this mount mostly for my vacation this Labor day weekend in Tennessee for the Rental Car I will be using. Note, the rental agency wanted to charge $10.00 a day!  So with my Garmin 260 bought real cheap new from Amazon, and this Nav-Mat, I can't see this GPS going anywhere else other than the center location of the Nav-Mat.

Anyone at all with a GPS who cannot mount their GPS on the windshield due to legal, or fitment issues should get this Nav-Mat.
Incredibly and Highly Recommended.
Again note it is illegal to mount your GPS on your windshield in California, and Minnesota.  Stay safe, and operate your GPS while safely stopped, and mount it safely with the Nav-Mat.
Happy Motoring.
