What a piece of junk!
Pros
Feature rich, great keyboard and form factor
Cons
So slow it won't pick up an incoming call sometimes!
Recommended it?
No
The Bottom Line:
If you're a power user DON'T BUT IT, YOU WILL BE SERIOUSLY UPSET. If you a text messaging kid, go for it.
Wow! Did I get ripped off!
I bought this phone because it appeared to have everything I wanted: a great feeling keyboard with good sized keys, bluetooth, WiFi, GPRS, camera, Windows Mobile, and a few other features. And, in fact, all of these features work as advertised as long as you have 30-90 seconds between wanting to use any of them. The CPU is SO SLOW that is takes the phone FOREVER to do anything! If you want to take a picture, you hit the camera button and the camera might take up to 5 minutes to load up! I'm not exaggerating.
I am a power user and there might be a possibility that I pushing this "toy" to do too much. I had it checking my POP email every 5 minutes on all my accounts and that rendered the device useless. The phone will ring but the CPU is so busy that it won't let you pick up the call. There are many times when I try to make a call out and the phone will not go into phone mode because it's busy accessing my email.
The bottomline is if you try to use the email system to get email regularly (which is part of the selling point), then you will pay the price in having a phone that is nonresponsive and non-functional.
I have spoken with other users who like the phone, but when I ask them how they like the Outlook synchronization and how they use it to track tasks, calendar events, etc, most of them look at me like I'm speaking a different language. So I can only surmise that if you use the phone for making calls and for sending text messages, then perhaps it's not too bad. But if you need to use it like a PDA and a cell phone and you plan to use Outlook with it and really put it through its paces, then you'll be disappointed as I have been.
If I would have known in the first 30 days of using it (the period in which you're allowed to return the device to Cingular) how slow the phone was, I would have taken it back. But how are you supposed to know that the unit stinks in the first 30 days? It's a shame too, because I like everything else about the phone.
Maybe I need to look at the Blackberry again...
