The Bottom Line:
If you're looking for a cheap car period, then this is the best cheap car around. You do get alot of features for the price.
I bought this car because on July 3rd an idiot driver ran into the back of my VW Turbo Beetle, caused me to crash, and the car was declared totaled shortly there after. So not being prepared to go buy another Turbo Beetle, I had to either walk or find a cheap car and that's where my new Focus came into the picture. I purchased a 2002 Sedan ZTS with leather and ABS...basically the top of the line model. A week after I purchased it I was at car max trying to sell it. Forget it. Even though I purchased it for well under invoice, I was still over $3000 upside down so instead of selling it, I had to drive away with it. I still have it and it's for sale (if anyone is interested). The road noise is a bit loud for a sedan, there is absolutely no horsepower. Don't try speeding away from anyone, you'd be better off ditching the car and running on foot. It's even worse when you have any passengers. In terms of gas mileage: I'm only averaging about 17-20 miles per gallon and the sticker in the window says I should be getting 26-31 mpg. I practically have to stop at every gas station I pass. This would be a good "first" car. It is cheap, but if you've driven high performance cars loaded with features like heated seats, then keep driving past the Ford dealership.
