A new way to listen to music?

Pros Sound, sound, and sound!Pedestal is also a nice feature.
Cons Price, price, price!
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  Contemplate.This is a big investment. REALLY think if you need this.But all in all sound monster.
Skepticism........

The one word that the majority of us would think is skepticism. Of course, we see the ads. Not really collecting the valuable information that is said. You think that the old stereo w/ clock in your living room or bedroom serves it's purpose. You continually contemplate again and again the idea if you really need a new radio/cd player. But there are some "extra" incentives. A multi-media pedestal for free. Now sure...... I don't need one, but for some reason "free" is a trap that somehow tricks us into most of our purchases.

What your Bose Wave Radio/CD Clock Radio includes:
* Stereo tuner with six AM and six FM station presets
* CD player with skip, scan, random, repeat,etc.
* 2 independent alarms w/ battery backup to save settings
* Credit card-sized infrared remote(battery included)
* Free multi-media pedestal
* With multi-media pedestal, capabilities include inputs for TV, VCR, computer, etc.
* I don't know the exact dimensions but it's about the size of a dvd player and weighs about the same
* Colors: Graphite Gray(black) and Platinum White(white)
* Free demonstration CD to show you the basics
* Manuals for the Bose player and pedestal

Out of the million or so different radio/cd players, I pick the Bose Wave radio. When you first call or see a store for a price, you don't expect the price to be too steep.
But considering that Bose is an expensive name, I won't be surprised. I said that this machine better have some pretty nice sound. So a Bose clerk takes me to a corner of the room to demonstrate. He pops in the disc and pushes play. It starts off normally. I was about to walk out of the store but continued patiently to listen. Then it hit me, the bass was coming from this tiny machine! I was blown away! I wanted the machine instantly. So I asked what was the price. Clear your ears, he stated that this machine now comes with a free multi-media pedestal(99 dollar value) and the Bose is now for the low price of $500. I was baffled. I couldn't speak. I thanked him and walked out of the store.

At home I contemplated. Then from recent stress somehow decided to fork over the 500 dollars. I decided to get shipping for this because the store was out of stock. About a week later, I received my Bose player. Inside this box was two boxes. One containing the Bose player and the other the pedestal. If you ask me the packaging was terrible, it held my $500 investment in a crappy plastic mold. I was appalled, I almost laughed.

I looked over the configurations and set it up. Placed the demonstration disc in and lay down. I listened to this 5 min speech on the purpose of the Bose "waveguide". This "waveguide" is a 27 in. long waveguide. It quote,"...efficiently transfers energy from a small loudspeaker to the outside air over a whole range of bass notes..." This in turn means they fold this guide into intricate patterns to fit small devices.I still don't know the scientific way but I guess it's a nice little invention.

Alarm/Clock
This is just a normal clock display.It's neon green that dims or brightens in a certain light source.The Bose has 2 individual time settings for the alarm. The alarm is weird. It starts off really low and slowly increases in sound.This goes until 65 or so and then continues beeping until you deactivate it. The time can be in military or normal time setting.Nice feature.

Sound
Again, I'll say the sound is incredible. The bass is so controlled yet is sooooo rich. There is abosolutely NO distortion even to the maximum volume. Clear is a good word to describe this. And the fact that the form factor is so small that it's hard to believe that the sound is coming from the Bose. Even with the radio on the sound is impeccable. The player must be placed in a corner for most sound capability. It really does make a difference.

Radio
Nothing special here. A radio. It has six AM and six FM presets. The sound though is great. Tuning is very easy. Quick and easy to read.

Remote
Nice little add-on.It saves the trouble of walking all the way to the player and turning it on/off. The radius of reception is incredible. All the way across the room it picks up the radar. This too is also very small. Very easy to lose. The buttons are a bit flimsy and will eventually tear due to repeated use. It's inevitable. You can control every setting from the remote.

Multi-Media Pedestal
A nice "free" addition that can hook up 3 different av cables and 3 electrical outlets directly into the pedestal. The Bose player sits on top of the pedestal snugly. The aux buttons can be easily reached to easily switch from source to source making the Bose much more useable.
