Better sound through Marketing is what some people say about the products from Bose. Just be careful who you listen to about speakers. There are many people who slam Bose, it is not the sound, it is not the price, it is the fact that they Will not tell you the specs on their products that makes some people very anti-Bose. Well Numbers were never my friend. When I was in the market for a center channel speaker, I listened to JLB, KLH, AR, and a few others before I heard the VCS 10. At the price of about 200 US dollars retail, it was the best value, and even better, it had the best sound. Now comes the part were I tell you why it had the best sound. I closed my eyes and listened, I could not hear any localization of the sound. I opened my eyes and watched the screen, this was one of the speakers that I listened to that gave me the feeling like the people on the screen talking, were talking in the room. The speech was not drifting around. Now let me tell you that the speaker has 4, 2.5" full range divers in it, so set your crossover on your A/V Receiver to send the bass to your subwoofer. As for the rest of the speakers that I listened to, I forgot all about them when I watched the latest James Bond movie on DVD. Just for the heck of it, I fired up the VCR and watched "Titanic". The sound was great, not as great as digital sound from a DVD, but it still sounded great. All in all, this speaker is great sounding. I hooked it up using some speaker wire in about 2 minutes, so just about anyone could use this product. Don't even read the manual, you just need to place it on top of your TV and away you go. Check it out for yourself.
