Don't make my mistake...
Pros
Looks nice, low profile.
Cons
VERY weak sound.
Recommended it?
No
The Bottom Line:
I'm not an audio expert but I can tell you that the VCS-10 is not a very good speaker.
I have a set of Bose's Acoustimass Cube speakers (5.1) which I have been pretty happy with, they sound fine and I don't really have space for full-size speakers. Anyway, I just picked up the VCS-10 today because I wanted to upgrade to a 6.1 system. I have to say I am pretty disappointed.
The first thing I tried was my satellite TV using Dolby Pro Logic II (Movie Mode). It sounded very hollow, and I was actually annoyed by the sound. I thought "Well, I just paid $200, maybe I will get used to it." ha.
Next, I threw on a DVD (Goldmember) using DTS. I made it about halfway through and decided to hook up my old cube speaker and compare. My wife said she could hear the difference from down the hall. The cube was SO MUCH BETTER. The VCS-10 seems to have no "punch" at all. Machine guns sounded like a broken starter motor.
I am taking this POS back to Circuit City in the morning; I hope can get my money back.
