Dialogue is good... but it has problems...
Pros
Great design, stylish, rich tone with a clear sound.
Cons
Lacks power for a center speaker, and range is poor.

The Bottom Line:
A average speaker. Just a bit better than a decent TV loudspeaker... hmm, I'd expect more from Bose. They are very pricy, but as with all sound systems... audition it!!!
The VCS-10, a stylish, compact loudspeaker designed to sit on top or below your TV to offer a rich vocal sound from the center.
That's exactly the problem. It's a little too tuned to vocals, therefore it's range is highly limited.
It has a crisp sound, but it feels weak in power and the case tends to feel flimsy.
I do not feel this is one of the better Bose speakers. It's seriously in need of an update and I hope they make a better job of it.
The Compound design is good, but it just doesn't offer the volume that a center speakers needs. It's designed to be paired with other Bose speakers, such as the 301s but I always find it sounds too laid back.
It's good for amplifying TV sound, and people whom have had hearing problems have commented on how clear it was.
However that is exactly where the problem lies, because it doesn't get loud enough to compete with the Bose 301s for example, nor does it produce any of the other effects which are fired at the center speaker. Ideally all your speakers sound be the same at the front, ie. another Bose 301.
I do not suggest getting this speaker for a non-bose set-up.
However at it's price I'm afraid to say, it's just a cut above a TV speaker in a Loewe TV. Miles ahead of a cheap TV brand, but not really a high-end center speaker with a lack of clout.
A center speaker has the job of producing all the vocals - therefore it should always be a very powerful speaker with a decent sonic range.
I found the VCS running into Active Protection nearly constantly during movie playback.
However, as with all things sound... Listen before you buy... I happen to like this speaker connected to the Loewe center output, as it gives a rich vocal enhancement to the stereo speakers in the TV, and brings presenters to life. However as soon as it's connected to a big amp, it falls appart.
