The Bottom Line:
Great for frequent travellers, not for a higher-end audiophile.
I purchased the Bose Quiet Comfort headsets three months ago because of two factors. First, I travel back and forth from California to New York often so long hours on the Airplane can really tire me out. I decided to invest in noise canceling headphones to alleviate the often painful journey. Secondly, I own a Bose Lifestyle stereo system and had Bose speakers in my car so I knew that Bose was a solid brand.
When I received my headphones which I purchased through the Bose.com website, I noticed firstly the great care the people at Bose took to ensure quality in their product. The headphones came with an extension cable, a 2-prong airline adapter, and a 1/4 inch plug. It also came with 1 leather carrying case with shoulder strap as well as a velvet lined pouch.
Aside from the great accessories included, the quality of the sound of the headphones was immediately recognizable. I put the headphones on in a room with a loudly whirring fan and the sound became muffled the instant I turned on the switch. The noise canceling definitely worked well. However, I was disappointed at the quality of sound of the headsets. I own a pair of Grado Sr-60's and the sound of the Bose headphones could not even come close. Because of the closed cup design, the Bose headphones caused much resonance in sound.
If you want great noise canceling, these headphones are a must. If you need quality of sound like an audiophile like myself does, turn to higher-end headphone makers like Grado, Sennheiser, or Stax.
