A good investment for some

Pros Recommended for airline travel Comfortable and great noise cancellation Nice hardcase
Cons None come to mind at the moment
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  On your next trip, try it, and you will become a convert. Enjoy.
After trying a few different noise cancelling headphones, I finally bit the bullet for the Bose QC2. The clincher was the offer of a Bose CD MP3 player for "free" with purchase...it seemed to make the high price tag more palatable. This is an occasional promotional thing, and I was patiently waiting for the next offer.

I am somewhat biased against earplugs, so this was one of the few noise cancelling options available. And, I travel considerably. Placing them on my head on the first flight, and turning on the noise cancellation, I was amazed, and actually took them on & off several times. It was so nice to think of something besides the loud noise.

With the noise cancellation "on", and no music, conversations were easily heard. Once music was on, most were drowned out. Sitting underneath an airplane loudspeaker still lets you hear the "important safety announcements", but other than that, I could listen to music without cranking the volume all the way up. A very pleasant change.

For all the talk about pressure against the ear due to the anti-noise generation, I felt the pressure from the airplane noise was much more intense. Earmuffs were very comfortable.

Some have complained that the bass is not satisfactory, due to the noise cancellation. For pure audiophiles, not on an airplane, they should seek other headphones. I am content with the quality of the music.

I will not be able to use these in a gym, but for airline travel, I now wish I would have bought something, anything, several years ago.

My understanding is that the QC2 models available today were re-designed last year, addressing some of the durability issues mentioned in some reviews.
