Its difficult to call this an equalizer, its actually a preamp equalizer with very few actual settings available to the user. Bose recommends this equalizer to 901 owners because of the inherent frequency limitations of the 901. The bass and high treble are accentuated, and there are 2 midbass sliders which allow a limited amount of control. There's no real off switch, so this thing is running all the time. it is also an exclusively analog device, so you can't use digital signals.
If you own the Bose 901, you may be better off with a quality equalizer with 10 or more sliders, which can give you more granular control over the speaker output.
Modern amps tend to omit preamp connectors, so hooking one of these up can be tricky.
