OK headphones at a premium price

Pros Fit and finish, sturdy, sound is OK
Cons Price to quality ratio is too high. Lousy cord. Made in China
Recommended it? No
The Bottom Line:  Try to listen to several other brands first. There may be something more pleasing for similar or less money.
I bought these a few months ago. They sound OK, but I'm not overly impressed with them. They have a good feel to them, and the pads are nice and soft. The sound though leaves something to be desired, I feel. I consider myself a Hi-Fi nut, and own and have listened to some pretty nice equipment. I do notice a hollow, excessively tinny sound to these. They can be equalized a little closer to my liking, but there seems to still be something missing.

I paid $95 for these, new, on ebay, which was a great deal compared to the going price in stores. I still feel that they are not that much better than the $20 Sony headphones that I had been using. They are definately more comfortable, and the sound is better, but marginally. I still have the Sonys laying around, and am not going back to them if that says anything.

I listen to a couple hours of music a day for 3 days a week at work while doing paper/computer work. All of my headphone listening has been of high bit rate MP3s/M4As via 3rd generation Ipod. I'm not a big fan of the sound quality of MP3s, but they suffice for the portability factor. The headphones do reveal more of the flaws in MP3s than my old headphones did. I also tried listening to uncompressed music though, and felt the same about sound quality of the headphones.

Overall, I think that there may be better headphones out there for similar or less money, from Grado, Sennhiser, Shure, or whatever. I think that it is too bad that there isn't any place around me where you can listen to headphones to try them before you buy. This is like buying speakers without listening to them first.
