Darn Good Headphones
Pros
Comfort and good, natural sound.
Cons
I hear some hiss on some recordings.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
These are great all-around consumer headphones. I think they're well worth the money.
I didn't spend a lot of time shopping and comparing headphones but did read up on available models, mostly to narrow the down the field in terms of features, price point, etc. Here's what I decided I was looking for: 1)clean, natural, and unaffected sound with conventional audio equipment, particularly a portable CD player. 2) Comfort. 3) No active noise reduction circuitry but still a full "earmuff" style design to mask a reasonable amount of external noise.
And I decided that I ought to be able to get that for about a hundred and fifty bucks.
That's exactly what I got with this purchase. The comfort is great because the cups fit fully around my ears and they're extremely light in weight. The thin headband seems to keep them light and minimize the pressure against the sides of you head. While I can see why other reviewers seem concerned that they don't seem especially durable, that's OK with me because I don't plan on carrying them around everywhere or subjecting them to any hard treatment.
I like the sound because it seems clear and balanced without the "in your face" effect that comes from a lot of punchier stereo equipment. I seem to prefer a mellower, more natural sound than a lot of other people and that's what you get from these.
I went shopping, saw these at the store, and decided to try them. Could I get something better for less money? I don't know - I'm just going to kick back and enjoy the music.
