You get what you pay for.
When it comes to Bose, I don't think there's any other speaker system that can beat it. I was a put off by the $400 price tag of the Bose Sound Dock Portable system and initially bought a cheaper brand and ended up bringing it back to the store the very next morning!

Pack up your speaker system and your CDs -- this is all you need!
It's 2008. Is there any reason to devote piles and piles of space to your CD collection anymore? You've already loaded all your music onto your iPod anyway.
