The Acoustimass 15 series is by far the top of the line in the Bose home theatre systems. The Acoustimass 15 features a hide away subwoofer with built in amplifier, to recreate the bass frequencies properly. Evaluate BOSE for How it 'Sounds', Not How it 'Seems'

bylothian Mar 27, 2002
20 Helpfuls 21 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Great imaging, good sound, inconspicuous speakers; a good choice for home theater
Cons Expensive; ill-suited for certain listening environments; require pricey stands or mounts
Recommended it? Yes

The emergence of the home theater system has directed legions of non-audiophiles toward a market that was formerly the exclusive domain of the audiophile.

If you consider yourself among the former, then your opinion of BOSE probably begins and ends with their 901 speakers, and you most... Read full review »

Pros Nice looking system
Cons Severely lacking sonically
Recommended it? No

I have heard various acoustimass products over the years, but never had the ability to test drive them in my own home until recently.

My own home cinema / hi-fi system developed an annoying hum in the sub woofer, so knowing how much it is possible to pay for a sub, I decided to buy a... Read full review »

A-plus looks, A-minus to B-plus sound

Pros Aesthetically pleasing, nice sound for music, excellent sound for movies
Cons Mid-range sound is thin compared to bigger box offerings
Recommended it? Yes

First of all, the reason I didn't buy the Klipsch reference speakers was that my wife wouldn't let me. She claimed that she didn't want to live in a college bachelor pad where she was looking at giant speakers all the time. In retrospect, I have to grudgingly agree with her wisdom because the Bose... Cons Don't Won It

This is a story of a naive person:

For quite a while, I was using my home theater hook-up consisting of my Marantz components and Paradigm main speakers. Now, I thought I was happy. I thought I was because I thought that Marantz made the best consumer components and that Paradigm made the... Read full review »

I moved into a new home and simply did not have the room in my new family room to accomodate my former surround sound system which was a Sony setup. Rather than buy a Sony package, I chose each speaker individually and was very happy with the overall performance but it was too large. Sony offered a... Read full review »

Cons Sound quality, price, build quality

rThe sole reason why I'm writing this 'epinion' is to help others. You see, it's been my experience that many people out there feel that these Bose speaker systems are as good as it gets for the money. When, in reality they are extremely expensive, poor quality excuses for surround systems.

Bose had a hit on its hands when it released theAcoustimass-5 to stereo listeners. The Bose Acoustimass-15 transforms the AM-5's dual-cube design from two-channel stereo to five-channel surround sound. Each cube contains a tiny driver that turns on a hinge, allowing you to tailor the proportions of... Read full review »

Not my choice for home theater.

Pros -acceptable bass within bandpass limits. -bass module works with any Bose cube or other...

Note: Here's the ongoing review of the Bose system I assembled, using the dual-cubes of the AM10 series I, which sound the same as series II cubes, and most likely, Jewel cubes as well. The bass module is different in this review, just so you know. Let's get started!

I had the AM10 system... Read full review »

There seems to be a love hate relationship between a lot of people and Bose. Because of this it took me over a year to finally buy them and I am very pleased with them.

It would seem to me that many people just hate Bose for no good technical reason. Most of the reviews of people who have... Read full review »
