I love this stereo the sound quality and the number of stations you pull in is great. At first I didnt think the wave radio was worth $1000, I thought there were so many more that we less expensive that could give the same quality as the wave radio, boy was I wrong. I had always wanted a Bose system ever since I heard one. I had first heard the orginal system years ago and thought it was great. I am astonished by the improved  even better sound of the new Bose Acustic Wave II (17817391207) Shelf System.
I bought this system because I am a music lover. The... Read full review »

Pros They will give you a full refund.
Cons Over hyped, Over rated, Over priced tinny, flat, compressed garbage.
Recommended it? No

I have to start by saying that I was completely open minded about this product, if not leaning toward the positive before purchasing because BOSE Stereo speakers actually sound very good.
I can say without reservation that I was shocked by the EXTREMELY poor quality sound of this system. I... Read full review »

Pros small size simple operation (good for Grannies)
Cons nosebleed price limited connections to other devices seemingly poor quality CD player

I guess I'm here because my Bose CD quit working just months out of the 1 year warrantee. To say these things are overpriced is obvious. Hopefully that comes with some expectation of quality. However, it turns out that these are no different from any other electronic item these days .. designed for... Read full review »

Pros Super sound from such a small unit, can't believe it's all coming out of that.
Cons You get what you pay for.

I've had my Wave music system with the disc changer for 3 days now and I haven't turned it off. Simply blows my Pioneer system away. Now I can take my music with me to the deck this summer and everyone can enjoy crystal clear music, the way it was supposed to be. I say you get what you pay for, if... Read full review »

Pros Sound, size, built in CD player
Cons PRICE!!!, design, display, remote, heavy, controls, features

After using the basic Bose Wave Radio for over a year, I had become strongly irritated by the arrogance of Bose, which in my opinion are nothing more than a scam to rid people of their hard earned money. I do not own this system, but have used it extensively at my school. I find it outrageous that... Read full review »

I was searching for a sound system for my 'minimalist' bedroom to play my ipod on random. I looked at some desktop speakers (cambridge) and other stuff but decided to go to the bose store and picked up the bose acoustic wave, having longed for it a few years back but didn't like the integral cd... Good, not great, but what other "Super Boom Box" choice is there?

bysquashuax Oct 30, 2004
7 Helpfuls 8 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Sounds great outdoors. The best "boom-box" you will find. Aux inputs helpful...
Cons Sound quality just OK in critical listening. Muddy bass. Very expensive. IR remote vs RF.
Recommended it? Yes

For the money, the Wave should sound much better than it does. Don't be fooled by the "replace you entire stereo" hype, unless your stereo really stinks.

However, if you want a portable "boom box" that sounds great, and mini systems and radios like the Model-88 aren't a viable... Read full review »

I purchased a Bose Acoustic Wave 5 disk CD system in October of 2003. I was replacing a much older bookshelf stereo and wanted high-end sound that could be connected to my television. I ordered the system from an advertisement seen in Country Living magazine. Along with a great music system, it... Read full review »

Pros Sounds great when it works, is easy to move around the house.
Cons High price...for bendy antennas and a few problems that require shipping back to Bose.
Recommended it? No

I actually like the system, when it works.

My first problem came with a lightning strike at the office - okay, my problem because I didn't have some type of protector. Box her up, ship her to Bose. Pay a repair fee and there was the shipping cost. It gets back and works 2 days, and stops... Read full review »

I bought the Bose Acoustic Wave Music System after watching the TV infomercial. I was a bit disappointed. The system performs really well. It is just like they say : no-nonsense system, without any hassle of wiring, connecting or some rocket-science programming.

Pros fast shipping, very small unit
Cons 1079 dollars?...

I recently purchased this unit online from Bose. I did not see any ads or commercials on this product. I just bought it on a whim because of the 30 day return policy. Once I got this unit out of the box I was shocked to see how cheap the materials are on this unit. The unit has a very cheap plastic... Read full review »

I listened to this unit in my home - This unit was not for me.

Pros Sounds good for its size. Very stylish
Cons Does not live up to expectations. Poor value for the consumer.

I saw an infomercial for this product that offered a "no-hassle" 30-day trial. I figured that this would be the best way to audition the unit as I was hoping to setup a listening area in another room of my residence. I have had trivial experiences with Bose, and I felt that I had to listen to the... Read full review »

Great Sound For Jazz Lovers; Maybe Not So Great For Others

bybrianpcoughlin Nov 30, 2002

Pros Incredible Sound
Cons High Price With Few Extra Features
Recommended it? Yes

Well let's see, where do I start. First, buyers have to contend with the high price of this system. I had a hard time justifying the $1,000 price tag. However, it was worth every penny to my ear.
The system is very easy to set up and I merely had to take it out of the box and plug the stereo... Read full review »

Pros Incredible, unbelievable sound. Very light-weight and portable.
Cons No storage for remote control.
Recommended it? Yes

The hype is really true; this little light-weight guy can belt out clear wide sound without distortion.

If you buy or listen to the unit and you are standing close the unit, you'll initially be quite disappointed. For whatever reason, the sound does not project well until you are at least... Read full review »

Fortunately for Bose, P. T. Barnum's Old Assertion Still Holds True Today

bysunspot42x Nov 7, 2002

Pros Looks nice
Cons Incredibly poor performance for the price

You remember P. T. Barnum, the famous showman behind the Barnum & Bailey Circus. He once asserted, "There's a sucker born every minute." That Bose can get away with selling their mediocre-at-best Acoustic Wave system for around $1,000 is a testament to the continuing validity of Barnum's... Read full review »
