It doesn't take a genius to determine the Bose 901 sounds horrible, all it takes is a simple side-to-side comparison.
I own a set of 901 series VI's and can without hesitation tell you that the Bose speakers sound BAD. I mean really bad! I'm just astonished at those who rave over them. I'm a terribly pragmatic person yet I did fall for the Bose marketing schemes, its a shame really but is a testament to how Bose does things. They don't publish specs because you really don't want to see how bad the frequency response of the 901 is! I have $50 speakers bought at a garage sale that sound ten times better.
No, you don't have to spend $50,000 to get good sound, but to get really bad sound you do have to spend $1300 at the Bose Outlet Store.
To the potential Bose Customer: I'm sure you want to buy them after seeing the infomercials, the "reputation" of Bose, but if you get all that out of your head and use empirical methods in determining your future purchase, you will end up sorely disappointed in Bose products.
