901's are still the best!

Size, sound, statement! Bose 901's are simply the Standard for excellence!
Cons
Need to have the correct reciever to "push" the speakers. If not, sound is off!

Buying the 901's is like a investment. If you stick with, in the long run you'll be a big winner!
Now that I've had my 901's for several months now, I really appreciate the total music/movie sound track/quality satifaction I get when I sit down and listen to my home system.
Utilyzing the 901's as my front speakers for my home theater set up is probably the best move I have ever made. You see...I was told by several "experts" that the 901's can't be used in a home theater set up. The speakers are not "compatible" with others, and the sound would not"collaberate" with other "inferior" speakers".
WRONG!!!
With the correct a/v receiever, and the proper placement, the 901's are in my humble opinion, the best for the front placement!
I viewed the movie "The Perfect Storm" the other night with my wife, and let me tell you all...I thought I was in a IMAX Cinema! The movie is a must for people who enjoy home DVD movies. I read in Sound and Vision magazine that the movie "Storm" and the movie "Gladiator" were true test of your DVD player, speakers, and receiver. For the purpose of this review...let's stick to speakers.
Placing the receiver on dobly digital, and using the coaxial setup, the 901's sounded fantastic! I heard every wave crash, every sword swing, every high C note from the movies sound track! It was tremendous...
Some "expert" also told me that I would need a sub woofer to finalize my home system!
WRONG AGAIN!!!!
With the 901's, setting the mid bass on the active equalizer to your specific liking really surfices. My family room was shaking when the arena scene in "Gladiator"
was playing. I mean...with the horses and the crowd noise going, I felt all the vibrations that the director intended the audience to feel.
I know what I'm writing has no technical back up or statistcal proof...I mean, I could give you all that mumbo jumbo...but what I think people really want to know is..."How the hell do they sound"! And the answer is...GREAT!
The Bose store doesn't do the 901's justice. When I was in the Bose store listening to them for the first time, I was impress enought to buy the speakers. But I really didn't appreciate the speakers until I got the proper placement in my home, and started enjoying them as they are intended to be.
Folks, for the money that GOOD speakers are costing in todays market, 1200.00 (US dollars) is a small price to pay for quality and personal satifaction.
The 901's have far exceeded my expectations. It really surprises me when I read negative reviews from folks. I laugh to myself because for once in my life, I've purchased a product that I actually enjoy in my mind as well as saying it out loud. (You know what I mean...you say one thing, but mean another)
The 901's help transformed my family room into our new home theater room!
