Good Speakers For Surround.
Pros
Size is compact, clear Bose sound.
Cons
None for what I use them for.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
For the money, it's a steal.
I have these as my surround sound speakers and not as mains. One may think they are a bit over rated for that purpose, but with the rest of my system they are good for that purpose.
I have 2 PSB towers for my L/R, I use Infinity for my Front and Back Centers, and the Bose for my surround.
The reason I chose Bose is that they are good speakers for all levels of sound no matter the volume. That is one of the criteria I use when choosing speakers. It is also a bit hard to find surround speakers that have the ability to keep up with the rest of my system without spending a fortune.
But for speakers that usually at most only get around 40 watts to them in surround mode, how much do you need? The surround speaker average watts is around 25W, so who really needs 100 watt speakers?
I tend to get better clarity using speakers that can g between 15 watts to 80 watts on my surrounds any.
And Bose can do that. Infinity, Boston, PSB also can do that, but compare the speaker efficiency and ratings....then compare the cost. For the 120 bucks I spent on the pair from the local Bose store, I would have easily spent 2-4 times that on other brands for similar characteristics and sound.
And for the surround? They work for me! The nice thing is, they have convenient brackets that make taking them on or off the wall and hooking them up to another system on the patio in a minute.
And they actually sound really good as main speakers on a stereo system, though I purchased them for surround speakers.
For this kind of money, they will most likely meet the needs of most consumers whether for main speakers on a smaller system, or as surrounds. The clarity and handling are Bose quality, and how can you go wrong for 120 bucks for the pair?
I couldn't, and never regretted it for a moment.
