The Bottom Line:
Don't buy it. Overrated, and not durable. Certainly not worth the hefty price tag.
For starters Bosch was a trusted brand, but comes with a large price tag. I didn't mind investing in this unit, because of its reputation. It also came with an attractive 5 year warantee.
Initially I was in love with this sleek machine because of its large capacity, 1250 rpm spin, and its High Effeciency saved me a ton in laundry detergent costs. But after the first 6 months it lost its luster.
The machine started to smell, after investigation I realized the machine doesn't completely drain water after washing and would sit in bottom and stain my clothes if I happened to do a bleach cycle. I would have to do a rinse or spin cycle to drain water out of chamber. If I didn't do an additional cycle, and didn't do laundry for more than 2 days it would start to stink like mildew.
The LCD readout on the machine lost readability after about the first year, as did the plastic cover over the door. After consulting with others, I also realized my machine took entirely too long to wash. My daughter's reliable washer took less than 30 mins, while the Bosch took about 45-60 mins.
The unit shimmied about 1 ft per every wash because of its "impressive" 1250 rpm. Nothing could stop it, and the spin became its demise. What ultimately killed the Bosch was the bearings on the drum. Conveniently after my 5 year warranty was up, the spinning of the machine sounded like a train wreck--seriously, a visitor asked me if my town recently installed a railroad in my backyard, THATS how loud it became. I had a technician inspect it, and he said it would end up costing $750 to fix the seal, the digital panel, a new door, and a drum bearing. NOT worth it after I had spent $1,100.
If you are interested in its twin dryer, look elsewhere. It takes 75 mins to dry, and the lint filter is, to put it gently, uncleanable.
