Convenient, and decent so far
Pros
- wide variety of beverages
- compact, attractive design
- water filter included
Cons
- not quite as good beverages as a coffee house
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
Compact, convenient and well thought-out design. Makes very decent beverages and convenient for the occassional cup of coffee for guests.
I've been using a Kuerig machine at work, and have always been dissattisfied with the taste of both the tea and hot cocoa (I don't drink coffee).
What appealled to me about the Tassimo is that it does tea, including chai lattes, cocoa and for my coffee drinking friends, it can do a cup of coffee for them (which i've never felt confortable making in a french press since i don't drink it.)
So it's a convenient solution for the times a friend wants a cup of coffee, as well as allowing me to make chai lattes, which is inconvenient to do with chai syrup. The cocoa is alot cheaper from a packet, but this is better.
In all cases, all the drinks are way cheaper than from starbucks, and if not 100% as good, the convenience and cost factor certainly makes them a worthy alternative.
The chai latte tastes alot like the ones i have made on the stovetop form syrup (not as sweet as starbucks or Dunkin's) and the hot cocoa is acceptable, a little bit weak, but better than the Kuerig for sure.
I have yet to try coffee or regular teas.
As far as the unit itself, this 2nd version is well designed with convenient cord storage in the base, a built in holder for the cleaning cartridge, a built in water filter, and convenient filling of the water container. It's small, attractive, and VERY easy to use.
So far, i'm very happy with my purchase.
