The Bottom Line:  It is well worth the money in its durabilty and easy of cleaning.
When my oldest son started to eat solid foods I researched around and got him a run of the mill Graco high chair. As this was over 8 years ago I can't remember the exact price but believe it was around $50. It cleaned up with work but it got us through his necessary highchair years. Enough time lapsed between son 1 and son 2 that son 2 was also able to use the same high chair. Nothing to write home about but it served the purpose. 2 years and 2 weeks after son 2 was born, son #3 graced us with his presence. I am lucky in that for the most part my boys get along, but son 2 has a hard time when he was asked to go up to the next level so his brother can use what he has really outgrown. So we knew that the highchair was not going to go easy and to be honest I don't think he was ready to be in a "big boy" chair.

When I started my preliminary research on new highchairs boy did I have a shock. What 7 years earlier I found reasonable for highchairs no longer existed. It seemed the average prices for something comparable were all around $100 and I thought that was ridiculous for something basic. I did find items under that price range, but their reviews were poor and they looked flimsy. Now I have no problem paying more for something that is worth it but the same highchair just with different fabric was not worth $100 to me.

In my research I came across the Boon Flair pedestal highchair.  It was more expensive ( closer to $200) but I liked a lot of the features. It looked different almost like a barber chair and I really liked that it was easy to clean and adjustable with just a push of a button. I decided to try it.

The store I got it from only had one available and it was the floor model so it was already assembled so I can not talk about that, but I will say when I have taken it apart for cleaning it has been rather easy. There is a base that requires you to screw 5 screws onto a plastic piece attached to the seat. There is 1 screw that is a bit hard to reach but it still takes under 5 minutes to unscrew and clean it.

The chair itself is a modern looking frosted chair that to me resembles a children's seat attachment to an adult bike. The company calls the seat color blue, but to me it looks like frosted white. It has 3 trays. A basic frosted white one and 2 clear ones that fit over that one. They are all dishwasher safe. The base is grey and has an orange button to lower and raise the seat. The base looks just like a barber chair.  Their is a padded piece that fits into the chair for comfort. Imagine your mouse pad but white. It is very easy to wipe out after the child has eaten. It cleans up good as new with a Mr. Clean magic eraser. It is slightly textured so I find it need the magic eraser to get into the crevices ( yes I have messy eaters).

Durability- This is probably my favorite aspect of this highchair. The base is rather heavy therefore it is next to impossible to tip over. I am sure in most households this is not a problem, but I have 3 boys. need I say more.

Ease of adjustment.- It is a one button adjustment and you can do it with your foot while holding the baby. The base is on wheels, but there is a break so that the chair can't just go if you don't want it to.

Cleaning- I briefly mentioned it before, but this thing is so easy to wipe down. The only thing that has to go in the washing machine is the straps. The strap that attaches to the seat that goes between the legs needs to have the base removed to get out to clean, but that took me under 5 min to get out and back together. The seat padding comes out easily and can be wiped down. For colorful baby food, a Mr. Clean magic eraser cleans it up good as new. It is much easier to clean then the fabric covered highchairs. There is no foam or fabric that needs to be washed. It can simply be wiped down. There are also no seams it is all rounded so no places for food to hide. I do take the seat cover out after each meal to wipe it down. I have no idea how my son gets food under there, but he does. This takes me under 30 seconds.

Safety- The chair comes with a 5 point harness system, my son if he really wants to can wiggle his arms out, but with the tray locked in place he can not get out. There is a piece that separates the legs and it fits onto the tray when the tray is in place. My son isn't there yet, but the instructions state as a child gets bigger you can use this as an adjustable kids chair by taking off the harness and the pad. It says it is good for children up to 4 years old and up to 50lbs.

The dimensions are :
Weight Limit: 50 lbs. Maximum Age: 4 years Seat Height Range: 21" x 26.25" Tray Height Range: 26.25"

Over all I really like this highchair. It is very easy for me to get my son into and out of. It is extremely easy to clean, Impossible for my other kids to knock over, aesthetically pleasing and very adjustable.

If you are wanting something that you can fold or hide this is not the chair for you. It does not fold in anyway, and is rather large at the base. It rolls on six caters so it won't scratch your floor, but it won't easily fit in a small pantry.

All in all it is worth the extra money in the time I save cleaning it. It is so much better then all the pieces I have to take apart and wash and wait to dry with the Graco highchair. If I start to clean it my son can be back in it in a few minutes instead of the hours required to clean the fabric covered chairs. This was well worth the money and looks the same it did the day it came home.
