Pros Entertaining stories.  Few new bits of information from the world of Harry Potter.
Cons Very short book.  One story is a bit dark.
Recommended it? Yes

When Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows came out in July of 2007, I quickly read the book as soon as I got my copy.  I really enjoyed it, though I also felt a sense of sadness because such a wonderful series was ending. During that book, a book of magical fairytales, The Tales of Beedle the... Read full review »

Pros Fun, short fairytales
Cons One story could be too dark; very short

Okay, I confess.  I didn't remember The Tales of Beedle the Bard coming into play during any of the Harry Potter books.  But that didn't stop me from picking this book up as soon as it became available.  I figured it would be a fun addition to my Harry Potter library.  And I was... Passable But Non-Essential Supplement to Harry Potter Series

byPacManY2J Jan 7, 2009

Pros Fun stories with good messages
Cons Rowling is better with novels; Dumbledore falls out of character during commentary
Recommended it? Yes

Like many who read the Harry Potter book series, I was sad to see the story come to a close, but I'm sure none were sadder than the books' author J.K. Rowling.  The tale of her beloved character was over, and she would now have to tackle the immense challenge of creating new characters and new... Read full review »

Number 2200: Christmas Comes Early for Potter Fans With The Tales of Beedle the Bard

bybilbopooh Dec 4, 2008

Pros wonderful stories, terrific insights in Dumbledore's commentary
Cons only five tales (one of which is a repeat), the third tale's gore
Recommended it? Yes

Last year, J. K. Rowling published Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, and like millions of other fans, I immediately began to go into withdrawal. Though I submerged it by frantically writing fan poetry as though I'd been given a month with a muse who would never be heard from again, a dull ache... Read full review »

Pros Simple, Childlike, Dumbledore's commentary
Cons The Warlock's Hairy Heart, too light.
Recommended it? Yes

Introduction
The Tales of Beedle The Bard is referred to quite a few times in the Harry Potter series as a wizarding children classic. The most famous reference to the book is when Albus Dumbledore talks about The Tale of Three Brothers in reference with the invisible cloak which Harry has and... Read full review »

Pros whimsical, pointed, fun, magical
Cons mainly for Potter fans
Recommended it? Yes

Once upon a time, a lady called J.K. Rowling wrote some books about a boy named Harry Potter. Seven books, all told, which proved so popular that they transformed their author into the first person in history to become a (US dollar) billionaire solely by writing books. But if you missed those dead... Read full review »

Tales From Rowling A Disappointment

Pros Complement to series, mildly entertaining
Cons Choppy, Rushed
Recommended it? Yes

Like many Harry Potter fans, I eagerly purchased the latest from J.K. Rowling, The Tales of Beedle the Bard.  Unfortunately, the book disappointed me greatly.

The stories were decent as stand alone fables for children.  The commentary from "Albus Dumbledore" gave interesting insight into a... Read full review »

This wonderful collection of magical tales is sure to enthrall the heart of every Muggle who plunges inside its pages. Learn about the Warlock’s Hairy Heart, the Wizard and the Hopping Pot (yes, it really does) and the Fountain of Fair Fortune. I especially enjoyed Albus Dumbledore’s... Read full review »
