Yep. Anyone can learn. VERY interesting.

Pros Actually helps ANYONE learn or improve their drawing skills. Fun exercises.
Cons Some supplies required to complete exercises are more difficult to obtain/set up.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  This book absolutely delivers on it's promise. You will become a better artist by learning to see properly.
I purchased this book based on the write-ups and reviews at Amazon. At the time I was trying to draw Disney's Tarzan, but not having tremendous of success. I needed a book that claimed a radical new way to SEE like an artist. So I bought the book.

The theoretical discussions in this book were very enjoyable. Another reviewer has stated that the old edition was better. Maybe it was. Maybe you're dating yourself.

Whatever the case may be, I was intrigued. The book claims that in only a few days ANYONE can learn to draw through learning, or re-learning to see. I have an open mind. I tried it. No matter what you think of the author and no matter what you think of the theory, the book is right. I was seeing in a new way. That way of seeing is constantly developing.

But I've been artistic my whole life. Whether I agree or not, people have always told me my drawings are fantastic! Can they see? Curious to find out what could happen with someone not so artistically inclined, I drafted my dad into the program. I read the book with him and he cheerfully did each assignment. He went from drawing faces like your average "I can't draw" non-artist to drawing a beautiful colt from behind turning its head to look at the "camera". We're not talking a stick horse from the side!!! I was amazed.

Next I took the book to a retreat with my 5 nephews and nieces (all under 8 years old). I paraphrased concepts and explained the theories in simple terms. We did exercises with mirrors and cameras. We did the exercises in the book together. They learned to see. They learned to draw better!! Even the drawings of the 3 year old, who didn't always follow the instructions (hey, that's what art's about, right?), showed signs that she was at least seeing more artistically.

Unless you're an old calloused veteran artist, struggling in your jealousy toward an artist who's out there helping the rest of us learn, this book will be ONE of the greatest tools along your journey to better art and a more satisfying experience as an artist! (If you are the former, go out and buy any Wayne Dyer book and come to the realization that the universe is SO abundant.)
