The Bottom Line:
If you can get the book for a good price do, take an art class, and learn more with out the limited view presented in the book
The mere title of this book roots its interest in the scientifically minded, and like wise, those of this nature who buy it will mostly likely be bored by at least the 3rd chapter when it starts delving into more artistic matters that her right brain thinking forget to tell us left brainers how to do. No matter though, the bulk of worth in the book is contained in the first chapters. You will probably find out if you are more scientifically rather than artistically minded if you find the first chapter on brain functions more interesting than the parts on how to actually draw. For people who are searching to see if they have the ability to draw and learn the basics, the book will do wonders. The "upside down" drawing proved to be most beneficial to me, but when I went and took an actual art course I found there was much more to learn that the book could not teach. The length of the book and actual content covered is much to long for what it is including. Also, the emphasis placed on the idea that you are either "left brained" or "right brained" may serve to convince the reader he is either one or the other when there is not clear cut category people fit in, and may discourage you if your drawing is not substantial to start out with.
Don't buy this book unless you are willing to devote time and work to drawing, or if you want to get a laugh out of the theories and notions she presents. I used it for a speech that placed at competition, albeit was not on drawing.
