Betty Edwards and Jeremy P. Tarcher - The New Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain

You can draw as well as many of your favorite artists. You think, "But my drawing is childlike and terrible." I thought the same thing before I read this book. My ability to draw was only one step above making stick figures on paper. Before I had even managed to finish the book, I could draw realistic images of things that were previously impossible for me.

Drawings of my hand have become detailed and exact. Proportions of my fingers are unbelievably accurate. Every little wrinkle and line comes out easily on paper. My fingernails showed up before my eyes and everything seemed to be coming together all wrong until I finished and looked at the image. It looked like I had traced a photograph of my hand. I was amazed.

This book not only teaches you how to draw but how to see in a new way. Your eyes become the tools of an artist. You notice the relationships of objects much better in every day life.
