Eclipse- The Twilight series continues...starting the showdown between vampire and werewolf...
Pros
fun read
Cons
Jacob is annoying...
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
This is a fun read and a must if you are hooked into the series. I really liked this one and would recommend it to others.
Cannot put the books down...
After finishing book 2, New Moon, I had already borrowed book 3- Eclipse and was ready to get started. I was hoping for a read that was a little more fun than the last. Edward is back and the books are much more enjoyable to read when he is around Bella.
Setting up the conflict
Victoria, a vampire that was met in the first book, is still out wanting to seek revenge on Bella. She will stop at nothing until Bella is killed. Edward is back and he is ready to be full time in Bella's life. Then there is Jacob who wants Bella too, and doesn't care that Edward is back. Jacob wants Bella all to himself.
Bella notices that some of her clothes are missing early on in the book. This raises a bunch of questions as to who. Did Victoria take it seeking her revenge? Did the Volturi send someone to see if Bella had been turned into a vampire yet? And then there is suspicion surrounding the many murders that are happening in nearby Seattle. Does that relate to Bella at all?
Mature vs. Immature
Edward trusts Bella and inwardly just wants her to be happy. But, everytime he goes somewhere he wants her to be safe. At first he had Alice "kidnap" Bella, but when Bella kept trying to see Jacob anyway he tried a different approach. Edward would escort Bella to the treaty line and then drop her off with Jacob. When Edward was back and they were done hanging out he would pick her up. Unfortunately Bella didn't understand how much Jacob liked her until Jacob forced himself on her in a kiss. When she hit him to retailiate she broke her hand. This only raises tensions between Edward and Jacob.
So, is Bella going to become a vampire?
Graduation comes and goes. Bella still wants to become a vampire, but is still toying with the idea of waiting a little bit. Bella wants Edward to be the one to change her and Edward is won't, unless she wants to get married. Then Edward would be willing to change her. He is worried about being intimate with her, that he could hurt her, as well as that he wants to wait and do things right. A part of Bella wants to do that, but she doesn't want to be the girl that gets married right out of high school. But, she doesn't want to age anymore either.
How will this book end?
Will the Edward/Jacob thing be resolved? Will they figure out who is after Bella and why? What will happen to Bella? There is much to be resolved, but this book is fascinating and will keep you hooked until the end. I had a really tough time putting this book down since there was so much going on.

Overall
I really enjoyed reading this book. I found this one much more enjoyable than book 2, however, I did find that I was more than irritated with Jacob. I guess that bugged me to continue though. This book is great in setting up the finale for the last book.
