Bill Cosby and Alvin F. Poussaint - Come On, People: On the Path from Victims to Victors

Bill Cosby and psychologist/educator Alvin Poussaint have worked long together to foster progress in African American life by encouraging pride and positive values. In COME ON, PEOPLE, Cosby and Poussaint speak with a sense of urgency on the responsibilities that individuals and society have and the need to rise above feelings of anger and victimhood. Speaking forthrightly and directly, Cosby and Poussaint point out examples of negative behavior that impede individual progress and that, in their view, sorely need to be addressed. Much of the book's focus is based on three years' worth of community meetings across the nation, wherein Cosby listened to people express their concerns and offer ideas, which are presented here in the form of "Call Outs," brief sidebars, each containing a powerful quote or insight. These add to the impact of the book, as do the other sidebars, called "Life Lessons," made up of brief biographies of achievers and role models.
