The Bottom Line:
After two products from them I won't buy another.
It is my STRONG epinion the Black and Decker have incredibly gone down on quality. First it was my Toaster, http://www.epinions.com/hmgd-review-7263-38BBE7-3A1BA59C-prod1 now, it?s the coffee maker. You think I would have learned.
The good points of the coffee maker. That?s a tough one. It DOES brew coffee. The coffee is hot???.END OF GOOD POINTS.
The coffee maker itself is cheap in design. The plastic is flimsy, and when you try to pour water in it, you end up spoiling more than getting it into the reservoir. This is due to poor design. If you are anything like me, you enjoy pause and brew. I?m not patient so I don?t like waiting for my coffee. Well due to the way B&D designed this feature you have all you can do to put the pot back in! It?s quite the ability test. The feature is located on the top and it actually prevents you from putting the carafe back into the maker. UNLESS, you turn it JUST RIGHT. Who has the time to screw around like that? Especially in the morning.
I?d like to get back to the plastic. If what I told you about the carafe is true, then imagine ho long this product would last when you have to JAM the carafe into position. The plastic is so thin and cheap. Well, let?s just say my Versa Brew didn?t wait that long to die. It went quick.
Two months after I bought it, I try to make coffee and NO POWER. I checked fuses, etc. The unit just didn?t have any. Okay, time to call B&D customer service.
I must say that Black and Decker dealt with the issue fairly well. All I had to do is give them the model number, tell them what happened, and they said they would ship me a new one. HMMMM. Fabulous, but almost to easy. They didn?t want the original returned and told me to toss it. Another good point. Obviously there is some recognition of how cheaply this product is made. Is the money worth it? That?s completely up to you.
