There are 2 types of mornings, those where you feel like you've been hit by a train and those where you feel like the train missed but the bus got you instead.
No matter what kind of "hit and run" morning I am having, there is one thing that I can not do without, and that is a strong mug of freshly brewed coffee.
I must admit, that when it comes to coffee machines, I have probably purchased and broken more than I have had cups of tea (and yes, I do drink tea as well). I first saw the B&D 12 cup a few months ago, while on my travels through the local Kmart store. I have always loved B&D electronics but had, to that stage, never actually owned any myself. SO, what did I do? Well, I went out and got me my own private Idaho. Just kidding, I purchased the B&D 12 cup!
Well, not only does this thing look GREAT! WOW, it makes a great cup of coffee!!! 12 cups, as you may know, is a heck of a lot of water. Almost 1.8 Litres in fact. Most machines I have found, take about 20 minutes to process this water and turn it into caffinated heaven. The B&D? Well, upon timing it just this morning, 7.8 minutes!!! I was shocked...amazed...IMPRESSED! No more having to wait for 20 long painful minutes to have my coffee, instead, by the time i have dressed, the coffee is sitting there, waiting for me to pour.
Another thing that the B&D has over most other brands I have tried, is the little, but EXTREMELY important aspect of the filter itself. Almost EVERY 10 cup or 12 cup I have tried uses disposable filters, which means constantly having to buy them, in the long term, costing uneccesary money. The B&D has a reusable, dishwasher safe filter. Just use, wash, use, wash and use again. I find that every so often, washing the filter in medium strength diluted bleach/whitener will remove the horrid dark brown coffee stains.
The caraffe? Well, well shaped glass, dishwasher safe, strong (trust me, i've already dropped mine) and easy to handle (for those mornings when the shakes kick in).
There is ONE thing that makes the B&D 12 cup the best... and that is the fact that it is so easy to use, and so quick, that it's not just a morning machine, but an allrounder, ready to jump to attention at the all of the caffiene.
