CONVENIENT--NOT!!!
Pros
Well, it makes coffee and does have an automatic timer
Cons
Very poorly constructed, hard to maneuver filter holder
Recommended it?
No
My son bought me the VersaBrew 12-cup coffee maker for Christmas, knowing what a big coffee drinker I am and what a convenience it would be to automatic program the brewing time the night before.
Well, good thought....but VERY, VERY POOR PRODUCT AND DESIGN!!!
I have spent more time trying to maneuver the filter holder out of the container than the time it takes to make the coffee! It's hard to believe that a company as big as Black and Decker could have engineered such a poor design.
Also, as in most coffee pots, this maker stops the coffee dripping when the pot is removed (so you can grab that cup of coffee while still brewing if you haven't set timer). Well, this is almost as poorly designed as the filter and grounds holder. You can pull the coffee pot out fine, but when you replace it, you better be quick or else coffee drips down the pot to the burner and sizzles...just another nice(?) feature.
Oh, yeah, also when cleaning the lid doesn't come off very easy either. I wonder if the makers are hoping you will break it.
I'm almost ready to go in the basement and retrieve my Norelco...Black and Decker should go back to the drawing board with this design.!!!
