The Bottom Line:
If just need one cup of REALLY good coffee, this is for you.
I'm the only coffee drinker in my house. And even then it's usually only one cup in the morning per day. So you can well imagine the lack of need for a high-end Mr. Coffee or similar appliance. I'm also not much of a coffee connoisseur to tell the truth. But after a year or so of suffering through cups of Folgers, I just could no longer take the metallic bland taste one instant longer (pun fully intended). What's a single-cup coffee drinker to do?
Thanks to my friends at Epinions, I found the Bodum Chambord French Press. After reading of the steeping process used and the variety of sizes – single cup included – this was the gadget for me!
Brewing real coffee is just about as easy as using a filtered coffee maker. For this .35L model, place 2 scoops (provided) of coffee into the glass, .35 liter cup. Add boiling water and stir with a plastic spoon. Insert the plunger with lid about 5 minutes. Lower the filter slowly by gently pressing on the lid's black knob. Pour. You can adjust the amount of coffee used and/or the steep time to adjust to your tastes.
The Bodum is adorable and looks great on your kitchen counter. Because it's not extremely popular here in the US – at least not in Maryland – it's also a great conversation piece. It works great. I am now so thrilled to be joining millions of other non-instant coffee drinkers. The Bodum is also easy to clean.
I really have no complaints about this gadget. Even the price is right at 15-20 dollars online. In fact, I'm thinking of purchasing a larger model to have on-hand when company is over.
If you're the Lone Coffee Drinker of the house, a Bachelor or Bachelorette, the .35 liter Bodum Chambord Coffee Press really is a great economical choice for you.
