Pros John captures the magic of his classic sound while twisting it for a modern audience.
Cons A few songs fail to connect.

This album hasn't been reviewed in nearly a decade! Come on, people!

If there's one thing I can say about the fan base of Mr. John Fogerty...it's that while they may not be as loyal as I'd like to be, they are certainly forgiving. After the pop-star vibe of his last record and subsequent... Read full review »

Pros When He's Good He's Awesome
Cons A Few Tracks I Could Do Without
Recommended it? Yes

I was amazed to find that John Fogerty, vocalist and one of two brothers comprising half of Creedence Clearwater Revival, hails from Central California. Yes, here in the fertile valley of the San Joaquin, who would of guessed it?! Not with the swamp-inflected stylings that are right up there with... Read full review »

Let That Blue Boy Play!!

Pros a terrific range of rock and roll, country, blues
Cons none
Recommended it? Yes

I miss the cigarette-char in Fogerty's voice -- the one that sang "Travellin' Band" some 35 years ago. But age, wisdom and better living can do that to rock and roll. I can't complain about what time does -- be like shoutin' in a windstorm. If you gotta make a minor sacrifice like a perfect... Read full review »

Blue Moon Swamp

Former Creedence Clearwater Revival leader Fogerty's first album since 1986's broodingly flat Eye of the Zombie, '97's Blue Moon Swamp finds him returning to the roots-rock ways of his old CCR glory days. Deceptively relaxed in the Creedence manner, this collection seeks to evoke the mood and tone of Southern swamp blues, with generally successful results. Highlighted by rockabilly- tinged tunes like "Southern Streamline" and "Hot Rod Heart," the album's clear standout track is "One Hundred and Ten in the Shade," on which Fogerty, ably backed by gospel vocal group legends the Fairfield Four, uncannily reconstructs the sound of Southern field hollers. --Billy Altman
