Blue Stinger - Mediocrity At Its Finest
One of the first games released on Sega Dreamcast, Blue Stinger falls right into the category of "mediocre." It's not great, it's not terrible. It is still an enjoyable game though, despite the quirky (and cheesy) flaws. Just don't expect too much and you will be on your way.

Can I borrow a quarter?I wanna? buy a plasma rifle from the vending machine?
The very first game I purchased for the Sega Dreamcast was Blue Stinger. In fact the game was released a couple weeks before the Sega Dreamcast Console was even available in North America. I was so excited for the Sega Dreamcast to be released that I purchased and pre-ordered games as they became... Read full review »
Blue Stinger, not Resident Evil.
So many people said wow I'll get this game because it's like Resident Evil. Yet in RE (Resident Evil) you fight zombies, in this you fight monsters, and dinosaurs. Only one thing is played like RE and it is how you walk around, and how you shoot your weapons. That's it. Now if you read this review... Read full review »
Blue Stinger? More Like Blue STINKER!!
I recently saw Blue Stinger, from Activision, at a local Wal-Mart for $19.99. It might be worth that price if it came with a $15.99 mail in rebate, but it doesn't! Luckily, I passed on the purchase and borrowed it from a friend instead (She didn't mind loaning it out, her words were "It's not like... Read full review »
A vacation on Dinosaur Island
How about taking a vacation on a tropical island, and lets say... with the name Dinosaur Island? Well, we might hesitate but not the young Elliot Ballad. The entire island was coated in a strange energy field from above. Not only that, but a powerful ghost is now roaming the place and threatening... Read full review »
Resident Evil Clone? I THINK NOT!!!
I've read other reviews of this game that have tried to summarize this game as just another Resident Evil clone. News flash for those people, play the game. True, it does have a couple of similarites to Resident Evil, but so does Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver and no one is calling that game a... Read full review »
Brown stinker? Not quite. Blue Ribbon? Not quite
Seems these days every single gaming company around is trying to cash in on the survival/horror genre, and this time around it is Activision's turn to try to scare the bejesus out of us while blasting away at your slew of undead. In the end though Blue Stinger ends up giving us more of a laugh then... Read full review »
A new action game in town!
Upon playing Blue Stinger, and after having played it for about an hour, I was quick to comment on how great of a game Blue Stinger really was. Some people have complained about some of the tricky camera angles in this and it is to be said it sometimes makes the game a chore. But overall this new... Read full review »
A great gaming value for Dreamcast!
When I was shopping for some new games for my Dreamcast, I saw Blue Stinger on sale for the tempting low price of $9.99. Although most "reputable" gaming sites have gave it mostly unflattering reviews, I find that Blue Stinger, which can be found for less than 15 dollars, an unsurpassed gaming... Read full review »
Ya gotta love flying mutant guts.......
When I first got this game, I'd never played on of those "Resident Evil" games that everyone says this is a rip off of. But I had played alot of other video games, and I must say that Blue Stinger is an enjoyable experience.
The story of Blue Stinger is sort of "eh". You are fishing with...

Blue Stinger
Stranded by a bizarre meteor impact and surrounded by monstrous mutations, rescue agent Eliot Ballade must unravel the mysteries of Dinosaur Island--or die trying. As Eliot or Dogs Bower, a ferry captain Eliot meets early in the game, you explore the island and uncover the story behind the disaster. While most of the game focuses on solving puzzles and learning more about the meteor and its effect on the island, roaming zombies and huge monsters will keep you on your toes. Graphics are good--with nice flashy weapons effects--but not mind-blowing like Soul Calibur or Sonic Adventure. The Jump Pack accessory (sold separately) provides great tactile feedback when firing weapons or getting mauled by a monster--it seems to spend more time rumbling than not. While the fighting is a lot of fun, some players may be frustrated by the regeneration of zombies. It can get tedious to exit a room after killing all of the enemies, only to run into them again when returning. The game's viewpoint system also could be improved, as it occasionally leaves you fighting an enemy you can't see. Parents should note that Blue Stinger is a horror game, and the gore flows readily. All in all, while it doesn't build any new genres, Blue Stinger provides a solid gaming experience. Its flaws keep it from being a great game, but don't keep it from being a good time. --Aaron Karp Pros: Long gameplay Involved science- fiction/horror storyline Good balance between puzzles and action Cons: Occasionally awkward viewpoint system Repetitive enemy encounters
