Poorly designed: Hinges broke & hard to clean
Pros
Waffles cooked well
Cons
Broken hinges are unsafe and grooves and handles are very hard to clean.

We had to throw our Black & Decker Waffle Maker away within one year. Like other reviewers have stated, the two round plastic hinges break easily. For us, with occasional use, one broke within two months, and the second by six months. That leaves just the electric wire holding the two halves of the waffle maker together, which is unsafe.
When making waffles, some of the batter naturally oozes out the sides of the waffle maker. That's fine, but the design of this waffle maker has it pour into narrow grooves and behind the handle. You can clean most of it with a knife or bottle brush, but it takes a while. As another reviewer stated, you really need to unscrew the handles to clean it completely.
It could still make tasty waffles when we threw it away, but with the hinge broken it was not safe, and it took so long to clean after each use we decided it just wasn't worth the trouble.
