Not Bad, Not the Best

Pros Delicious, healthy waffles every day! Quick preheating Inexpensive
Cons Difficult to completely clean No useful tips or recipes for the novice
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  For this low price I reccomend this product. However, you may find it lacking some features and shapes found on more expensive models.
I purchased this waffle maker, my first, for $15 at a local retailer. I followed the directions for "seasoning" it before first use. I have to say that, for the most part, I agree with the good reviews the others have written. I won't focus on the joy of joys of homemade waffles everyday!
What I don't like is that the instruction booklet gives no advise about how much batter to pour or the best pouring method. Never in my life have I made or watched someone make waffles, so I would have found some tips handy. It doesn't mention that reapplication of oil will be necessary frequently. I found out when all of a sudden my waffles refused to exit the waffler. I was left to present a mutilated mess for me and my husband due to the fact that I didn't have enough time to make new waffles and serve breakfast in time for him to leave for work.
My last problem involves overflow and a weird deep groove in the handles. Not knowing exactly how much batter to pour, I had a huge overflow. To my horror, some batter sunk into this useless groove in the handle which is further divided into small subsections by useless dividers. It has been over a week and still I am unable to clean the batter out!

If this is your first waffle maker, you can't beat the price. I works fairly well, but waffles can stick and although the actual non stick plate is easy to clean, the handles and grooves are not.I've only had it for about 2 1/2 weeks and am still perfecting my technique. We have waffles every day and although a piece on the hinge is broken and I have the overflow problem, it has brought more joy than sorrow.

UPDATE: Thanks for the comments! I looked at the instruction sheet again and I was misinformed. It does say to use 2/3 cup of batter and has a recipe for homemade waffle batter. This kind of mixup can happen when you've just spent hundreds of dollars on new toys at the local Walmart and read all the manuals back to back! I do feel that the instructions would have been better with more details and tips for newbies. My George Foreman, blender and coffe maker all had superior instruction booklets detailing ongoing maintenance requirements and including several recipes and i had no problems.

Unfortunately, the other hinge broke so I am looking for a new waffle maker. I won't be buying this one again, but for the price, I definately got my money's worth.
