A Step BACKWARD for Braun!
Pros
Looks nice, comfortable handle. So WHAT.
Cons
Weak, tasteless coffee. Pause and serve often doesn't pause.
Recommended it?
No
The Bottom Line:
Avoid this coffee-maker! If you really know coffee, are a connoisseur of gourmet beans and taste, you will hate this thing, trust me.
I recently bought the AromaDeluxe KF 510B, which is the black version of this same coffee-maker. I should preface this review by saying that I have owned several Brauns over the years, and consider it the Cadillac of coffeemakers. For years I've been the staunchest supporter of the Braun coffee-maker, against all competition.
That being said, this one stinks. Sure it's beautiful and the handle's nice. That's it for the plusses. Unlike Brauns of the past, this one gushes the water through so quickly that it doesn't saturate the grounds. Hence, the coffee is extremely weak and tasteless. I changed the calibration of coffee and water, and it makes no difference -- the coffee tastes like brown water. In addition, the brewer and burner is too hot. I don't normally leave the maker on after I brew, but if perchance you do, your coffee will get over-heated and taste burnt.
Speed is NOT a priority for any of us who appreciate gourmet coffee, and it baffles me that they changed the main thing that they did right. This one brews and heats just like the $9.00 disposable junk makers. I don't even use it anymore. Now I have to again find another brand and do some experimentation. Braun has lost my trust and I'm leery about trying any of their newer models.
