Black & Decker IC200 Arctic Twister Ice Cream Blender....Fantastic!!
Pros
It's an economical way to give your family ice cream treats
Cons
Hard to store because of the size; noisy
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
I would recommend it to anyone that wants to save money on ice cream treats that would normally cost $2.00 to $4.00 apiece.
I bought this on a whim and gave it to our family for Christmas this year........We've already gone through two 5 quart pails of ice cream and it isn't the new year yet! I figured for 16.99, if it did what it's supposed to for a year or so, I had gotten my money's worth out of it. If we go out for ice cream, cones or blizzards, it would cost well over $12.00.
I've read the other reviews and all I can say is, read the directions.
I had ice cream that came out of the machine that was too soft, only because the ice cream was soft when I started. I only use hard ice cream and it comes out perfect.
The machine is noisy and because of it's size, it's hard for me to store.
I do agree that you can only get enough ice cream in the tube for 2 servings, and I am usually making for 4 to 6 people at a time. My solution is to have everything out and ready. I have a small dish to catch any ice cream while I'm filling the tube again and I have cones and dishes ready to fill. I didn't need any help as long as I planned ahead, though, with a 5 & 7 year old, I do get help!
There is ice cream left in the machine when I'm done, but I take it apart and scrape it out. Waste not, want not!!
I would recommend the Arctic Twister to anyone with a family of 4 or more. If you like to save money, like I do, I believe it's economical to make your own soft serve ice cream and blizzard-like treats. And if you can get the Arctic Twister at price I got it, then you've already saved.
