Yeoman Waffle Iron multitasks as a grill

Pros Has heat-range controls
Cons Spent too much time trying to find it. Internet rocks!
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  Not fancy but a great appliance.  Couldn't be happier.
Did a lot of research to match the size, controls, and options before I narrowed the choice to just one unit.  I was replacing a proctor/silex tiny iron made of plastic-type covers.  It did an okay job, but took forever before having enough waffles to serve.

What I liked:
1)    It cleaned up really nicely.  Be sure to season the waffle plates before first use.  Read the directions!
2)    The waffle size is large which makes it easier to get more on the serving plates faster.
3)    Four waffles squares at a time.  I recall this size as a kid.  Lots of the new irons produce waffles that are too tiny.
4)    Has heating controls to moderate the heat and a ready light.
5)    Grill plates seems flimsy at first, but they snapped in ok and didn't budge as I used the waffle iron.  Rather simple technique/design.
6)    For the grill (I haven't used that yet),  plates with a grease channel that drains beyond the rims so you can collect it.  I think this could get messy if you bump the tin or collection dish if you are doing something that renders a lot of fat.
7)    Cord length was ok.

OTHER THINGS:
It's a nice retro look. The plates snapped into place and they were super easy to clean. My first (and so far only) waffle batter was a pre-mix and I don't think it was the right consistency.  The results were a little smaller than the plate size on a few, but still much better and faster cooking than my old grill. Cook's error not the grill.

STORING:
It's not exactly designed to store on its side because it doesn't have a snap.  But, I use a rubber band and it works!

HEATING ELEMENT:
Each side has a single element that circles around.  I thought it wouldn't heat the plates evenly, but thought the waffles cooked evenly.  I expect the grill works best if you get those plates hot enough before you put down food to grill.  But they will work just fine for grilled cheese sandwiches.

Finding this grill:
Based on the older reviews, Black & Decker has had this unit on the market quite a while.  My logic was that they had plenty of time to tweak the design, but I couldn't find this grill in local stores.  Sears said they had it, but not in the store.  Here's what to do to get a good price from Sears. From the store kyiosk, go online using their web pages.  They'll send it to your house - free shipping. I bested the Amazon route by $10.00 at $58.49.  Sears is not the easiest merchant to make such an online purchase, but the in store sales person made it happen.
