Black & Decker Flavor Scenter HS900 8-Cup Rice Cooker

My wife Peggy has been using the Black and Decker HS900 Steamer to cook fresh vegetables at least twice each week for the past 2 years. This appliance is so simple even a CEO can figure out how to cook with it - although my wife won't let me touch it - and for good reason. I just wrecked the basket "helping" her wash it out and now I have to buy her a new one. The component parts come apart easily for proper cleaning and drying. Previously we had a more complex steamer with a turbo fan on the top forcing the stream back down onto the vegetables. That model cooked faster and looked cool but the fan motor being subjected to the steam did not last very long. It did not appear that the motor or the associated electrical contacts were hermetically sealed and the assembly did not meet NASA specifications. The HS900 is much simpler and has fewer gadgets on board to fail. When selecting a vegetable steamer my advice is to keep it simple. The HS900 is a great product and it a good value for the money. Just keep your husband away from it and it should last a long time.
