The Bottom Line:
This is a top of the line model at a bargain basement price. It is safe, works fast, does the job of a dry cleaner!
I change clothes about 4 times a day, easy. Especially living in Florida, where the weather changes in extremes. So, I am constantly throwing something in the pile, washing/drying/folding, or throwing something over the clothing rack. Thus, leaving me with a lot of ironing to do. I go through irons the way I go through vacuums.
My latest find, which I find trusty and durable, is the Black & Decker D1700 Iron With Auto Shut Off. I found this on sale, so I was happy to not only get a good deal, but on such a high-end iron! This attractive model has a digital display for the temperature when you are ironing delicates or items of specific material. You don't have to use the tip of your finger to test if it is hot enough, that is for certain!
I wear a lot of lightweight clothing that is loose, cotton, and other soft materials, so wrinkles happen even when you are sitting on the couch. So to have something that fires up quickly, and smooths out the wrinkles fast is a treasure hunt gone right! I have many summer dresses and skirts that are made of material that will look like I climbed out of a garbage dumpster if I do not have an iron on hand!
It is so easy to burn your clothes, and I have in the past, so I am grateful that the steam settings allow you to choose how much you let out, and there is a misty spray that shoots out to dampen your chothing without drenching it. With proir models, I used to get big wet spots on my clothes. That is gone with steam & mist! It has an Anti-Drip sensor, so it does not "leak" water out as you tip it to begin ironing.
The flat, sharp, ceramic sole plate is smooth and hot and you do not have to keep going over and over, or turning the clothes from front to back as often as you would with the average iron. It eliminates static as well. With irons in the past I have spent as long as ten minutes on one outfit because I would iron, and then it would create new wrinkles smoothing the old ones out. This works within minutes, once and for all!
This has an automatic shut off that I am grateful for because sometimes I have a million things on my mind, and juggling ten things at once at yikes! I forget to turn things off. It sports a 10 foot, 360 degree swivel electric cord that makes it easy to maneuver. It is 10" x 6" x 5" with a comfort grip handle.
Overall, this is the best iron I have ever owned, I am very happy with it, and I think it is going to be long lasting and trouble proof for the next few years!
