Black & Decker CTO6301 Toaster Oven with Convection Cooking

I have been frequently using this BLACK & DECKER CTO6301 6-SLICE CONVECTION TOAST-R-OVEN ( UPC: 5087553040 ) for five weeks and it has met my expectations very nicely.  This modern looking convection toaster oven is completely controlled by push buttons, and it has a LCD display with a timer and temp display, and it has a wondeful slide-out crumb tray that helps to keep everything clean.  The big glass door pulls open all of the way and allows for easier access to your cooked food.

Due to the heating physics of large toaster ovens, toasting bread produces slices that are a bit on the dry end of the spectrum.  It is the combination of space and time -- more time is needed for the toasting because of how distant the bread is from the heating coils above and below.
 
As an oven, it does best roasting items that can be cooked fairly quickly.  One very nice feature is that the front glass is very big and has a slight angle to allow watching your food easily as it cooks.

It is big enough for roasting thick open faced sandwiches.  It is big enough for eight regular English muffin pizzas.  The Black & Decker 6-Slice CTO6301Toaster Oven is rated to be a "6-slice" size.  For regular store-bought bread, yes, 6-slice toaster ovens fit six bread slices at a time just fine.  But for large over-sized hearty high-end breads, only 4 slices fit good if you do not want the outer slices of bread to touch the sides of the toaster oven.

The brushed stainless steel finish hides finger prints better than standard chrome toasters.  As the owner's manual states, the exterior metal along with the front glass become hot when the toaster oven is in use.  Like most all toaster ovens, once it is off, it cools down nice and quick.

After living in homes using small toaster ovens for decades, I now am really enjoying the extra size and compacity of this 6-slice oven.  The Black & Decker 6-Slice CTO6301Toaster Oven has many pre-set functions within it's 13-button front facing controls.  However, I tend to use the basic "TOAST" button as the do-all quick start cooking.

For example, to perfectly cook cheese English muffin pizzas, I put the oven rack on the lower level in the upside down (U-shaped) position, then place the pizzas on the bake pan and let it cook for two regular toast cycles -- and ta-daaa --lightly golden brown.  Yum!

For child safety, the oven beeps whenever any button is pushed, and it will not turn on unless the bottom START button is pressed after a function button is pressed.  For example, to toast you press TOAST and then START.
