Cheap isn't always the best way to go. Black & Decker is much better.

Pros It doesn't jam or make a horrible noise.
Cons
None found so far.

Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line: Paying a little more for a toaster is worthwhile. This toaster looks good, works great, and is easy to keep clean.

I hardly ever have toast in the mornings so Len normally gets to pick a toaster. He goes for the cheapest one and then 6 months down the road it packs up and he gets another one. They normally cost around $5 and it isn't worth using the warranty because it doesn't cover shipping and handling costs. About a month ago Len told me that the toaster was dying on him so we went to Wal-Mart to do our normal shop and picked up a toaster for $6.33 plus tax. It didn't work from day one so we went back and paid the difference to get the Black and Decker T2560B toaster at $16.63. Wal-Mart had reduced the price from $19.95.

We actually checked out the one that was on show in the shop to make sure that it was sturdy enough. Yes, it is still plastic but it feels firmer and the plastic is much thicker than the really cheap toasters.

It is black with silver trims and also available in white. It is bigger than the cheaper toasters. It is ten and a half inches x 6 inches x 7 inches in depth. It has wide slots for thick bread, bagels, and waffles. As with all toasters you place the bread item in the slots, and use the round knob setting to determine how well you want it toasted. It ranges from 1 to 6. You then press down the toast lever at the side until the bread items lock in the toaster. If for any reason you realize that you want your toast out of the toaster before it pops up, you can use the cancel button on the side of the toaster to eject it. There is also a frozen button for items straight from the freezer. Just put your bread item in the toaster and press down on the lever, then push in the frozen button at the side. Again if you make a mistake you can also use the cancel button.

I haven't tried it myself but there is also a bagel function button. With this the bagel should be cut in halves and put in each slot with the cut side inwards. When the level in pushed down your bagel should be toasted crispy on the cut side and warm on the outside.

Len has been using the toaster every morning for the past three weeks and I have even used it for his waffles. It does a great job and we find that two and a half is a perfect setting for them.

The toaster crumb tray is on the other side of the toaster. It is black on the outside so it matches the toaster. You just pull it out and clean off the crumbs. Then insert it back into the toaster. I just wipe down the toaster daily as I do with all my small appliances.

A word of warning as the exterior of the toaster is always cool to the touch but the inside metal area will be hot while toasting and shortly after. Never submerge the toaster under water and always unplug it before cleaning it.

The toaster does have some lips underneath so you can wind the cord around them and out of site and danger.

This toaster has a one-year limited warranty. If you have a problem you can phone 1-800-231-9786 or go on-line at www.product.com/applica.

I have to say that the Black and Decker T2560 toaster is pleasing to the eye, a great product, and does the job we ask of it. Gone are the days of cheap shody toasters and why didn't I do this years ago.
